TOM BUNK BLOGHEAD PRODUCTIONS PROUDLY PRESENT:
A BUNCH OF BUNK

Friday, January 15, 2010

These weird baseball cards were made in the late 80ies, I guess. I am not sure if it was for Topps.Could be another company that went bankrupt. Anyway they were never paid for or published.
The pencils were done by Drew Friedman and the concept came probably from Mark Newgarden. Two very funny men. I am glad I have the final paintings .

  1. Tom- I totally forgot about these, not sure i ever saw them finished.

These designs were done for a NY toy company and meant to be marketed with sculpted figures of the baseball players.

(Similar to a Topps idea that got killed there because of the objections of the sports dept. )

The company went bust soon after the project was initiated and nobody got ever paid a nickle, me included!

  2. Thats right,Mark.I knew there was something fishy about the wacky baseball series. They never paid us a damn nickle and we even got ourselves a lawyer and paid him real money.I think the company went to Canada, and disappeared in the wild woods never to be seen again.Anyway there should be also other cool paintings by whoever was involved.May be we should get together and do something.

  3. That's the only baseball card set I think I'd have ever have bought. Thanks for sharing them.

These make my life happier. (I know that's not much satisfaction for all your work.)
